The new Autumn update for Windows 10 gives additional features to control downloading system updates.
In Windows 10, you can now set the bandwidth limit when you download in the background, which helps you keep your Internet speed down while downloading updates and more control over the data transfer rate, especially for limited telecoms owners or when there are certain restrictions on your data consumption.
These settings apply to system updates, application updates from the store, and updates to other Microsoft products.
You can restrict downloads while making updates to Windows 10 by following these instructions:
Go to Settings
Click Update & Security.
Click Windows Update.
Click Advanced Options under Update Settings
Click on "Delivery Optimization"
Click Advanced Options. In the box next to "Specify the amount of bandwidth used to download updates in the background" "Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the background"
From the slider bar you can set the available percentage of the bandwidth used for background downloads by swiping left or right, knowing that using a lower value will result in slower delivery of updates.
The above settings are limited to background downloads only when updates are made, meaning that when you start a manual download through the operating system update, these restrictions will not apply.
